Categories
Categories determine how climbers are grouped for scoring and leaderboard placement. You can set up to three category levels.
Category 1: Gender
The first category is typically gender. Common options include:
- Female, Male, Non-binary
- Female, Male
- Open (no gender split)
You can customize the gender options to whatever works for your comp.
Category 2: Age Group
The second category is usually age or experience grouping. Examples:
- Simple: Youth, Adult, Masters
- USA Climbing style: U13, U15, U17, U19, U30, U40, U50, 50+
- Minimal: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Open
Category 3: Skill Level (Optional)
The third category adds another layer of grouping. This is optional — leave it empty if two categories are enough.
Common uses:
- Skill level: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
- Division: Recreational, Competitive
How categories combine
Categories combine to create unique groups. For example, with Gender + Age + Level, a climber might be in Female / Adult / Advanced. Each unique combination gets its own leaderboard.
When a climber registers, they pick one option from each active category. Their scores are ranked against others in the same combination.
Tip: Don't over-categorize. If you have 30 climbers, splitting into 50 category combinations means most leaderboards will have one person. Keep it simple.
